Who Are We
Gus & Ri, live and operate their small inbound travel company from a little town called Hoedspruit in South Africa. They are on the doorstep to some of South Africa's famous Big 5 Game Reserves. From the Kruger National Park to the Sabi Sands, they are fortunate enough to have safari adventures just a stones throw away.

Risette moved to South Africa from the Netherlands in 2010 to join a bush school and animal rehabilitation centre as their volunteer coordinator. She then, some years later, transitioned to lodge management (South Africa & Mozambique) before becoming a travel planner and taking on independent travel consulting rolls for inbound travel specilists while starting Roads Less Traveled Africa.

Gus lived and worked in East Africa for 19 years before returning to his country of birth, South Africa, to pursue a career in guiding (private game reserves in SA). He later transitioned to lodge management (Mozambique) and Operations management for a day tour company in Cape Town. In 2019 Gus launched Roads Less Traveled Africa as an inbound travel company who's ethos is a focus on offering alternative destinations and meaningful interactions with a hands on personal touch for their guests.
